I have never been on tour before - will I hold everybody up?
You don’t have to ride in a group if you don’t want to. You have all the riding material you need in your tour packs. If you go away with your usual riding friends then you can ride in your own group. However, staying in the same hotel and travelling at the same time will offer you the opportunity to meet other bikers and ride with them if you so wish.
Should we come on a UK tour before trying abroad?
This is not essential, but some people do prefer too. If you are a little nervous about riding abroad then you can book onto one of our escorted tours where our tour guides will be on hand to offer you advice and assistance.
I have never toured abroad before - how much experience do I need?
Because you don’t have to ride in a group you don’t need any experience. However, the tours are rated in accordance with difficulty. Check the mileages before booking a tour. There is a tour in our itinerary for every type of rider, experienced or novice!
What difference is there between Guided and Escorted Tours?
On a self guided tour you will be sent a tour pack before you leave. This pack gives you all information from the addresses of the hotels, ride out routes, local attractions and even a pre tour check list and riding abroad advice relevant to the country you wish to visit. This means that even the novice tourer can feel confident in riding on the continent.
How many people go on tour?
About 20 people. As mentioned above, you don’t have to ride with them. But this does offer you the chance to meet new bikers. This usually makes for entertaining evenings in the hotel bars!
What is the average age of people on tour?
This depends on which tour. France attracts the more experienced riders as the mileage is higher. Tours such as the Isle of Man and Nurburg offer a wide mix.
How far do we ride each day?
This depends on the tour. For example, The Pyrenees tour and Millau Tour you will cover 340 miles in the first day, but then only about 150 -200 miles after that, with days off too. Isle of Man and Nurberg offer the shortest mileages.
What happens on ‘rest’ days?
On rest days you are free to do as you wish. You can visit the local sights or explore some roads. On escorted tours your tour guides will be available to advise and you can also have them ride with you!
What documents/insurances do I need?
You will need the usual bike documents, such as V5 Log Book, bike insurance, MoT certificate. Obviously your passport will be required. We also require proof that you have personal travel insurance and European breakdown cover. We can offer you this, see our extras page.
How do we book a tour?
There are a few ways you can book a tour. If you are sure what you want then a quick and simple way to book is using the online booking system. If you would like to know more or would like some advice on which tour will suit you, feel free to call us and we will be happy to advise you!
What happens next?
At the point of booking you will need to pay a deposit of £120 per person. Once this is done you will receive confirmation of your booking. 8 weeks before your departure your outstanding balance will be due. When we have received the full amount we will send out the Tour Packs that include some very useful pre tour information. It is that simple!
I am unable to make the dates for your tours can you help?
We can still help yes. If you give us a call we will arrange a tour to suit your dates. This may be slightly more expensive.
Do you do bike hire?
At the moment we do not hire out bikes.
Do any women come on your tours?
Women are more than welcome on tour! We are currently trying to arrange a Womens only tour. If you are interested give us a call!
How much money should I take?
You will need to have enough money for your food, petrol, etc. A little cash in the currency of the country you are visiting is useful for tolls, or the odd drink, but most petrol stations accept British credit/debit cards.
Do your customers all tend to know each other already?
Our customers don’t all know each other. We sometimes have small groups travel, but in general you can meet lots of bikers, if you want to.
Are the bikes secure?
The hotels we use all have secure parking.
Are you bonded?
We are fully insured by Travel and General Insurance Company’s Topps programme, in accordance with the 1992 Package Travel, Package Holiday and Package Tours Regulations. Furthermore, any information held by EMT shall be kept under the strictest confidentiality and used only as agreed
I want to extend my holiday. Can you arrange a later/earlier ferry for me?
We can arrange adjustments to the brochure tours, at a slight cost.
What standard of hotels do you use?
All our hotels are a minimum of 2*, mostly 3*. They are all clean hotels with secure parking.
What type of bikes do you get?
We get all different types of bikers, from cruisers, tourers and sports bikes.
What is the weather going to be like?
Although we do everything we can for you, we cannot control the weather! We recommend you have a good set of waterproofs, should you experience some rain.
What happens if my motorcycle breaks down or I have an accident?
If your motorcycle breaks down you will have your the European Breakdown Cover (either sources by yourself or provided by us as an extra). If you have an accident you will have your personal travel insurance, which is why we insist you have it.
My bike doesn't have a great range will I be able to get petrol?
Yes. Petrol stations are abundant in France and Germany, but be sure to plan. In France allot of Garages close in the evenings and for weekends. A British Credit card is fine at most self service garages, however check first!
Where do we stop for coffee breaks?
Because you won’t travel in one large group with everyone on the tour you can stop whenever you want to. If you are on an escorted tour with a tour guide just let them know. It is your holiday!
What if I want to come by myself?
If you want to travel on your own this is fine. You even have the chance to meet all the other bikers on the tour.
Can I take any non-riding friends with me?
Of course, if they want to ride pillion!
